Ed Heil's Art Trove

What's new?

Raison d'Etre

This is the brainstorm idea as originally written down, right after I thought of it:

So I was almost going to go to bed but then I had this idea. Here's the idea.

I start an Ed's Illo Trove service.

To join the service, you pay a one-time fee of N dollars. For those N dollars, I create one piece of art to your specification and add it to the Trove. N is significantly less than I might normally charge for an illustration.

That one-time fee entitles you to use all the Trove art forever, royalty-free, as many times as you want. All the art in the Trove is yours to command, to use as if it were clip art.

The Trove art is also available to anyone else in the world, but only under a Creative Commons Share-Alike license. So anyone can use all the art, no questions asked, without even paying the one-time fee, as long as they are willing to pull a Clinton R. Nixon and share with the world just like I am sharing with them.

The result:

The service as it stands is pretty much as described there, with the specification that N is $25 and the clarification that the $25 investment is for membership, and the piece of art is a complimentary sign-up bonus.

Creative Commons License

The following license applies to all the images in this directory:

"Creative Commons License This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License."

Even More Permissive, but Exclusive, Licensing: Art Trove Membership

If the Creative Commons license alone does not suit your purposes, just sign up for the Trove! Trove membership is $25 for a lifetime membership (your life or the Trove's, whichever comes first) and grants you permission to use all Trove art royalty-free, indefinitely.

But that's not all! Sign up now, and I will add one piece to the Trove drawn to your specifications (within reason -- something of approximately the complexity/difficulty of most of the pieces in here should be fine). Further requests for new Trove pieces are $20 for simple pieces of average Trove complexity/difficulty/fun, subject to upwards negotiation for stuff that seems time-consuming, hard, or boring to me.

Current members include:

Special Thanks

The following individuals OK'ed the inclusion of art already produced for their forthcoming roleplaying games in the Trove. (I don't think that OK was legally necessary, but I consider it necessary for good business practice, so I am grateful for it.) I and all future Trove members thank you!

Latest Trove Goodness

<== Vector version available in the vector subdirectory. Don't forget that vector version! You'll want it if you're going to print this bad boy. It's also good for resizing to different sizes you might need.
